To park in central Angers, distinguish between a free space for the day, a paid car park near the château, and a park-and-ride with a tram journey. La Rochefoucauld is an official free option, but may close during events, particularly in November. For Mon Château Angers, the host also mentions free outdoor parking beside Théâtre Le Quai, about 200 m away: this is neither a private space nor guaranteed to be available.
Choose according to the length of your stay
The best parking option is not always the one that looks cheapest on arrival. For a quick visit, a free first hour may be enough; for a full day, compare the total cost and the final walk. For several nights, also check temporary restrictions and access arrangements for your vehicle.
Destination Angers lists central car parks and free options. The tourist office warns in particular that La Rochefoucauld closes during the November fair and for certain events: at this time of year, do not assume this large car park will be available. 1
| Option | Parking cost | Main advantage | Limitation to bear in mind |
|---|---|---|---|
| La Rochefoucauld | Free according to Destination Angers | Leave the car outside a paid car park | Event closures, availability |
| Outdoor parking beside Théâtre Le Quai | Free according to the host | Option mentioned for the apartment | Confirm local conditions; no reservation |
| Irigo park-and-ride | Free parking; transport required | Avoid searching in the centre | Choose the right tram and check the return journey |
| Parking Château | First hour free, then official rates | Close to the château area | Cost over several hours; vehicle height |
| On-street parking | Depends on zone and duration | A targeted stop on an authorised street | Time limits, signs, payment |
The operators provide details of park-and-ride conditions and Parking Château. The Le Quai reference comes from the accommodation, not from an official car park listing we could locate. 2 3
Free options: have a back-up plan
La Rochefoucauld can be useful if you plan to explore the city on foot afterwards. But “free” does not mean reservable, always open or supervised. Check the signs on arrival and make sure no closure is announced for the following days. A car left for several nights calls for more care than a stop for lunch.
For the outdoor parking mentioned near Théâtre Le Quai, ask Cédric for up-to-date access directions before your stay. The host gives a reference point about 200 m from the apartment; we could not verify this exact route against an official source. Do not assume this applies to every space in the area, and use only authorised spaces.
Arrange an alternative from the outset, particularly when there is a show, an event or a late arrival. Time spent looking for a space can wipe out the benefit of a modest saving. If your plans are entirely in the city, it is often simplest not to move the car again once it is legally parked.
Park-and-ride: free parking, not the journey
Irigo lists five free park-and-ride sites, open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, near the tram. The car park being accessible does not mean trams run all night. Check the timetables for both outward and return journeys, as well as the tickets required for passengers. 2
| Park-and-ride | Official location reference | Tram stop |
|---|---|---|
| Ardenne | Rue Pierre Mendès-France, Avrillé | Avrillé-Ardenne |
| Hauts de Saint-Aubin | Boulevard Jacqueline Auriol | Verneau |
| Roseraie | Rue Tardat-d’Arbrissel, Angers | Angers-Roseraie |
| La Barre | Boulevard Victor Beaussier | La Barre |
| Montaigne | Avenue Montaigne | Montaigne |
The addresses and stops come from Irigo; plan your journey before choosing rather than assuming every P+R suits your arrival point. 2
If you have bulky luggage or young children, compare the convenience of this option with a central car park. For long stays, also check local signs: advertised free parking does not amount to unlimited permission to leave a vehicle for several weeks.
Parking Château: verified rates
Parking Château, on rue de Quatrebarbes, is a paid option in the area you are looking for. The operator’s listing gives a maximum height of 1.90 m and payment in 15-minute increments. If you have a roof box or a tall vehicle, check its full dimensions before entering. 3
| Period or duration | Rate shown by the operator for 2026 |
|---|---|
| Between 9 am and 7 pm | First hour free |
| From 1 hr 01 to 10 hours’ parking, during daytime hours | €2.50 per hour, charged in 15-minute increments |
| Between 7 pm and 9 am | Overnight flat rate of €3 |
| 24-hour period | €25.50 |

The opening hours published by Destination Angers and the operator do not fully agree. We therefore do not present them as guaranteed hours: check directly with the operator before arriving very early or late. Always distinguish vehicle entry, pedestrian access and the ability to collect a car already parked there.
Other central car parks offer a free first hour according to Destination Angers, including Bressigny, Haras, Ralliement and Fleur d’Eau–Les Halles. That does not make them free for the day. We have not reproduced an old tariff table to make an artificial comparison. 1
On-street parking: check the right zone
The operator distinguishes orange, green and blue zones. Published paid hours are 9 am to noon and 2 pm to 7 pm in orange, and 9 am to noon and 2 pm to 8 pm in green. Blue-zone parking requires a parking disc and is limited to four hours. Check on site which days the rules apply and whether any special restriction is in force. 4
For the first few hours, the website lists €1.70 for one hour in orange and €0.80 in green. It shows a four-hour limit in orange and nine hours in green; do not choose these options for an entire weekend without checking. You can pay at a meter or using EasyPark. 4
Enter your registration number and zone correctly. Do not confuse the end of your paid period with permission to park in a loading bay, a reserved space or a prohibited area. Temporary signs take precedence for the practical arrangements during your stay. The City also explains the specific procedures for parking for people with reduced mobility. 5
From the apartment
Mon Château Angers is at 6 boulevard du Général de Gaulle, opposite the château. Do not interpret the free option near Théâtre Le Quai as parking included with your booking: it is public outdoor parking mentioned by the host and subject to local conditions.
Before you arrive, check the practical information and ask for the latest directions. Once settled in, enjoy the Maine riverbanks, about a two-minute walk away, and Ralliement, about seven to nine minutes on foot, according to the accommodation’s information. To avoid this logistics altogether, see Angers without a car.
The apartment accommodates up to four people and offers 24-hour self check-in; this does not guarantee that a car park will be open. Compare the accommodation, then book direct with your travel arrangements in mind.
FAQ
Where can I find free parking in the centre?
La Rochefoucauld is an official option, subject to closures. Near Théâtre Le Quai, the host mentions another outdoor possibility: confirm the conditions before going there.
Are the park-and-ride sites really free?
Parking is free according to Irigo. Budget separately for the appropriate public transport ticket and check tram times, especially in the evening.
Is Parking Château free?
Only the first hour during daytime hours, according to the published tariff. Hourly rates or flat rates apply afterwards. Check the operator’s listing before setting off.
Can I leave my car on the street all weekend?
Do not assume so. Check the zone, permitted duration, paid days and temporary restrictions. A suitable car park may be simpler than repeatedly renewing parking.
Is a parking space reserved with the apartment?
No. The nearby free outdoor parking mentioned is not private. Plan a back-up and do not obstruct traffic while unloading.
